Letters from Abraham Lincoln

He would write letters that he would never send. Angry letters, fuelled by emotion. A great example is an emotive and critical letter he wrote to General George Mead. This was a man he blamed for allowing Robert E. Lee escape the battlefield at Gettysberg.

The letter was simply marked as never sent, or signed.

It’s a great idea to help work through the emotion. React and then respond. Go back and write something when you’re in the right frame of mind. What would have happened if he lived in a world full of social media and instant messaging though?

Have a think about this. Do you need to take some time before you react to something? What do you put in place to ensure the world doesn’t see you in the wrong place?
