FAQs - Answers to your questions about The Wellbeing Website
If you’ve just found this site, you probably have some questions. This page should help you understand what I’m doing here and put your mind at ease. We’ll start with the obvious one.
What is The Wellbeing Website?
It’s an online resource that’s here to help people improve or maintain their mental health and wellbeing. It’s free to use and it’s designed to be available on all devices. The intention is to remove common barriers people often come across when they reach out for some help and inspiration.
The aim is to share ideas that help people build up their own wellbeing toolkit, and that leads us neatly to the next question.
What is a wellbeing toolkit?
It’s a very general term. In short, it’s a collection of practices, activities and ideas that can help you feel better. We’re all different though, and we’ll all need different things. Like an actual toolkit, it’s content will reflect what that person needs to do, and deal with.
On The Wellbeing Website, there’s a lot more than the simple wellbeing practices people might expect. I also touch on productivity, technology, psychology and better ways to do things. It’s like I’m building up a manual for modern life.
Like an actual toolkit, this collection of practices, activities and ideas will always be with you. It’s there when you really need it. Your wellbeing toolkit can also be used proactively, to help prevent problems appearing.
Why do you do this?
There are two important things that motivate me to do this. Firstly, I’ve had to help myself and I know all of this works. While recovering from the sudden onset of a serious neurological condition, I had to go out and find the things that helped me get through it. I built my own wellbeing toolkit, and It’s always with me. I’ve never stopped developing it.
I’ve also been able to share these ideas with other people, both one-and-one and in group workshops. I’ve seen what happens when people take that first step. I honestly believe that everyone should have access to these ideas.
Secondly, I don’t believe the system we have is working when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. It can be hard to find help and when you do, it’s often locked behind a paywall or there’s a long wait for it. That’s why this site exists. There’s a mental health crisis and this is my response.
Who is The Wellbeing Website aimed at?
To be honest, It’s hard to think of anyone who wouldn’t benefit from what I share here. Primarily, this is going to help anyone experiencing stress or anxiety. They may be finding life difficult and be searching for ways to make things better. Calm their mind and start to turn things around.
They may not have the time or money available to read multiple books and subscribe to digital services. They need something now. It can also help keep people going if they have to wait for professional help to arrive.
The Wellbeing Website will also help people who want to be proactive. Put things in place to help prevent problems appearing. Do the things that help them be healthier, happier and better at what they do.
I think you could say it’s here for anyone who wants to feel better and be better.
What’s the catch?
There honestly isn’t one. I do this to make a difference. I can understand your concern though, given the state of the digital world right now. There’s often a nasty surprise, so you have to be careful.
It’s so important to me that all of this is free and authentic. When it comes to mental health, I really don’t think this sort of content should be locked behind a paywall.
All I want is a little bit of your time, attention and hopefully support. A follow would really be appreciated, as it’s the best way to keep up with what I’m doing.
Is it safe to suggest all of this to people?
There are two important things to consider here. Firstly, I make it very clear that this site is not intended to be a substitute for professional support. This video from the About section will explain everything.
Secondly, as you go through the site you’ll see that I suggest a lot of helpful resources. The authors, academics, experts and creators behind these should give you a good idea of who I listen to.
My approach has been established by science. My research, backed up by my experience, skills and observations, is what’s behind all of this.
So, there are no crystals?
That’s a definite no. While I personally like to keep an open mind, nothing here is magical or supernatural. I know what that approach can do to people.
Hopefully, you now have a sound understanding of what I’m doing here. If you need more information or something doesn’t make sense though, I have a contact button below. I’m always happy to help.
